Caretaker- Cury School- Penzance
Due to an exciting expansion of Nancealverne School and the opening of Cury School, a new SEMH provision based in Helston, we are seeking to appoint two full-time Caretaker/Groundskeepers to work over three school sites.
Nancealverne School is a highly successful Academy Trust School that lies in the heart of Penzance, Cornwall. We provide a specialist- high quality, relevant and balanced education for young people aged 3-19 who have moderate to complex learning difficulties. This focuses on individual, personal, and academic achievement, setting high expectations for all.
Cury School is a new primary school catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Cury school is situated in a beautiful and inspiring part of Cornwall and is a satellite provision of Nancealverne School in Penzance. We pride ourselves on providing tailored support and education to empower our students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Nancealverne/Cury school is a member of the Special Partnership Trust, an ambitious and inspiring collaboration of specialist provision in Cornwall, with a focus on excellence in learning for everyone.
The role of a Caretaker/Groundskeeper is to undertake general maintenance of the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities. To ensure the building is compliant, to assist in maintaining the security of the premises. Carrying out daily site checks/safety inspections and compliance duties.
The successful candidate will have:
• A minimum of 2 years practical experience of building and grounds maintenance work.
• Good practical skills.
• Good organisational skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Good general knowledge of building maintenance/ repairs
• Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivated.
• Be comfortable communicating with young people.
We are committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. To comply with KCSIE 2023, we will conduct a simple online search prior to interview.
