HLTA- Cury school- Penzance

Cury School is a new primary school catering to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Cury school is situated in a beautiful and inspiring part of Cornwall and is a satellite provision of Nancealverne School in Penzance. We pride ourselves on providing tailored support and education to empower our students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Role Overview:

We are looking for someone with initiative and a willingness to become an active member of our friendly and professional school team – where happy children and their learning are our highest priority.

The successful candidate will be required to work alongside class teachers and other Teaching Assistants and to follow any recommendations/guidance from multi agency teams.

Experience of supporting students with SEMH needs, severe physical and/or learning difficulties is desirable for this position.

The successful candidate will have:

• A minimum of two years relevant experience working with parents/carers and families.

• HLTA qualification, or be committed to work towards gaining this qualification alongside new role • Experience leading a class and small groups.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• A good understanding of safeguarding children.

• High quality report writing and recording skills.

• An ability to work on their own initiative and be self-motivated.

A commitment to continuing professional development is necessary; we work closely together, and roles may be interchangeable to meet children’s needs.
